Gordis
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
Gordis connects people who need quick, informal Spanish-to-English translation with bilingual volunteers on a live audio call. This page explains, in plain language, what we keep, why we keep it, and what control you have over it.
What we store
- Account details: your email address, the display name you choose, and the language you prefer to use the app in.
- Your role: whether you ask for help, offer help, or both. We also remember if you switched alerts off.
- Help requests: which languages each request involved, and when it started and ended. We do not store any written note about what the request was about.
- Connection data: brief technical information that lets two devices find each other and talk during a call.
- Alerts: an identifier for your device, so we can show you a notification when a request comes in.
Calls
- Call audio travels live between the two devices. It is not recorded, not stored, and cannot be listened back to afterwards.
- The app asks before using your microphone. If you decline, calls will not work, but you can still use the rest of the app.
What we never do
- We never sell your information.
- We never use your data for advertising.
- We never keep the content of conversations.
- We never ask for your phone number, your location, or your contacts.
Your choices
- You can change your language, your role, and your alerts at any time from Settings.
- You can turn alerts off without deleting your account.
- If you want your account and everything we hold about you deleted, write to us and we will do it.
Children
- Gordis is made for adults. It is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes and contact
- If this policy changes, we will update the date on this page. Last updated: September 10, 2026.
- Questions, or want your account deleted? Write to us at emsters40@hotmail.com.
Thank you for trusting Gordis.
